Need another book review? Well, you came to the right place!
Today I’ll be reviewing the book “The Invisible Life of Addie Laure” by V.E. Schwab, and may I just say this book was definitely a different type of romance book that I could easily read again.
Synopsis: This story follows a young French woman (Addie Larue) in 1714 who ends up making a deal with a dark spirit. This deal makes her immortal, but also curses her to be forgotten by every single person she meets. Fast forward to three hundred years later, Addie is doing everything she can to survive all on her own, while living an almost completely invisible life. That is until everything changes once she meets a man in a bookstore who remembers her.
My thoughts: This book was so good in so many different ways. Throughout the story it does multiple time jumps. So you’ll be reading about Addie’s life throughout the time she has been cursed and you’ll also be reading what is currently happening in the present. I thought this was a great touch to put in the book because it shows how much she has been suffering with being all on her own and how she has managed to keep on going. Once they introduce the male character, Henry Strauss, it gets even more interesting because throughout the book before we meet him everyone she has ever met has always forgotten her. Then all of a sudden some random bookseller ends up remembering her. This is where the love story begins. Their love story was like a whirlwind of trying to get as much stuff as possible and that is because of a secret Henry is keeping. Then about half way through the book not only does it do time jump perspectives, but it also does the multiple perspectives through Henry’s perspective as well. The ending was easily one of my favorite parts of the whole book because the last few chapters is absolutely not what I was expecting, but it ended up being the perfect ending for this story. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil it for you. All in all this book was not only interesting, but was also a 21st century fantasy love story that I never knew I needed to read.
Would I recommend this book? 100 times yes!
